St. George's is one of fourteen parishes on the North Shore which belong to the Presbyterian Church of Aotearoa New Zealand. It has been on the corner of the Terrace and Anzac Street since 1902. We consider God's truth, shown forth in Christ, to be dynamic and evolving. The Presbyterian symbol is the burning bush, which recalls the passage in the Bible where Moses sees a bush on fire, and recognises God's presence in it. (Exodus 3:1-15) The bush burns, but is not consumed. It is an image of something lively and changing, yet reverent and sustained.
Each Church has its own particular flavour. At St. George's we try to offer services of worship that possess order, reverence, freshness of mind, and a sense of spiritual space. We like to think that St. George's is a safe environment in which people can come to understand who God is. Not everybody at St. George's articulates their faith in exactly the same way, but we all share a common desire to follow Jesus.
Our Sunday Service is held at 10am each week and you are welcome to join us. We also have a variety of activities throughout the week. Check our Groups and Activites page for more details.
